Hanukkah Blessings

It’s here, the great holiday convergence.

Tonight is the lighting of the first candle, then two tomorrow with your turkey (is this convergence a reason to add a she’cheyanu שהחינו tomorrow night too?). Friday night add another to the hannukiyah and then your Shabbos candles. (Tip: Make sure you have enough matches).

If you can please add in an extra mitzvah – donate a can to the food pantry or a toy to the Red Stocking Fund or put something in the synagogue tzedakah box or give or assist in a multitude of other ways to help repair this world.

Next Wednesday school begins at the regular time. Then at 4:50PM we will join together in lighting our hannukiot, sharing latkes & songs.

חג שמח!

Happy holiday

Thanks, & WOW!

Thanks to all of you who made the past weekend one of joy & fun, and warmth & productivity.
Too many to name, so in summary..,

Friday night’s Tot Shabbat had extraordinary attendance (11!). Our (highly adorable) future b’nai mitzvah were in the house!
They sang songs, made challah, made menorahs & heard a story.

Sunday was the first Artisan’s Show & Bake Sale benefiting our school. The merchandise was extraordinary and our building made for a beautiful setting.
Complementing the show was a bake sale & a raffle for a gift basket. The artisans each donated an item to the basket making it a great prize. Families & members donated delicious baked goods. Kids & parents sold the pastries and tickets.
There was a palpable sense of pride.

Mazel tov!
Thanks to everyone
Oh, and we raised money for our school (estimated $1400.00)

The rest of November…& some of December

Tomorrow 11/15 4:50PM Tot Shabbat – ages 3-8, join the joy & fun!

Sunday 11/17 11AM – 3PM Artisan Fair & Bake Sale at the MVHC benefitting the Religious School! Get the word out, bring your friends!

Friday 11/22 Join us in welcoming Shabbat as our students lead the service with Rabbi Broitman. Each class will participate in the service and then we will all enjoy a potluck Shabbat dinner. Please bring a dish to share – vegetarian/dairy/parve. It’s Shabbat please have the students dress appropriately (collared shirts for boys).

And remember our 8th Night of Channukah Celebration Wednesday 12/4 at 4:50PM. Classes will be held at the usual time preceding the festivities. Again, please bring a dish to share (latkes provided) and bring your menorahs too.

The first night of Channukah is in less than two weeks. If you have any questions about observance or traditions (that your student cannot answer) please respond to this blog post. No names will be included when the responses are posted, so ask!
